All in a day

This was literally the case recently, when in one day SGB Rovacabin dismantled, relocated and rebuilt an entire science laboratory. The building, fully fitted out with conventional science laboratory equipment - Bunsen burners, gas chambers, gas fittings and desks - had been on lease to Strathclyde University in Glasgow. The lease term had expired and the building, destined to continue its life as an educational science lab, had to be relocated to Belmont House, an independent day school, in Newton Mearns about seven miles away. To make way for the new lab facility at Belmont House, an existing modular building was moved to another part of the school grounds by the Rovacabin team. While that was happening, the lab was being dismantled at Strathclyde and loaded onto nine lorries for transportation and reassembly in its entirety at Belmont House - all in the same day.

Rovacabin planned the logistics of moving the two buildings, and were also involved in the technical advice, planning procedure and specification issues. Charles McIvor, General Manager for the school said "The service and technical capabilities of this modular system are extremely impressive. We have everything we need here to progress with teaching to the highest standards in a modern, comfortable environment. We are delighted with the time and cost saving which Rovacabin has helped us to make." The units are high specification, steel framed building sections, typically 3m x 12m and can be linked horizontally or stacked up to 3 units high, maximising the effective use of the available site area. They are strong, versatile, permanent or temporary and come with flexible rent, buy or lease options to ensure that they are the most cost-effective units available. The building is constructed to a quality standard (ISO 9000) and a variety of finishes are available - even brick clad if required - and they are vandal proof and fire resistant. SGB Rovacabin is one of the UK's leading suppliers of high quality portable accommodation and secure storage, with a 30-year track record of satisfying additional space requirements for property in both the private and public sectors. The SGB Rovacabin team will carry out an on-site survey to assess exactly what is needed and a complete 'turnkey' package is available which includes decoration, furniture, electrical and sewage services, groundworks, planning permission and other statutory requirements.
